Description

🌿 Philodendron Florida Beauty Care Sheet

Light:

  • Prefers bright, indirect light.

  • Higher light levels help maintain strong variegation, but avoid direct sunlight which can scorch leaves.

  • Low light may cause slower growth and loss of variegation.

Watering:

  • Water when the top 3–5cm of soil is dry.

  • Keep soil lightly moist, never soggy.

  • Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Humidity:

  • Thrives in moderate to high humidity (60–70%).

  • Adapts well to indoor conditions but benefits from added humidity.

Temperature:

  • Ideal range: 18–28°C.

  • Avoid temperatures below 15°C and cold drafts.

Soil:

  • Use a well-draining, airy aroid mix (potting soil, perlite, orchid bark, coco peat).

  • Supports healthy root development and climbing growth.

Fertilizing:

  • Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

  • Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.

Support:

  • Provide a moss pole or stake to encourage larger, more mature leaves.

Pruning & Maintenance:

  • Prune leggy growth to maintain shape.

  • Remove damaged or yellow leaves at the base.

Repotting:

  • Repot every 1–2 years or when rootbound.

  • Best done in spring.

Common Problems:

  • Fading variegation → insufficient light.

  • Yellow leaves → overwatering.

  • Pests → spider mites, thrips, mealybugs.
