Light:

• Prefers bright, indirect light.

• Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the velvety leaves.

• Too little light may slow growth and cause leaf drop.

Watering:

• Keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.

• Water when the top 3–5cm of soil feels dry.

• Do not allow the plant to sit in water.

• Reduce watering during winter dormancy.

Humidity:

• Thrives in high humidity (60–80%).

• Ideal for bathrooms or near a humidifier.

• Low humidity may cause crispy leaf edges.

Temperature:

• Ideal range: 18–27°C.

• Sensitive to cold; avoid temperatures below 15°C.

• Keep away from drafts and air conditioning.

Soil:

• Use a well-draining, airy mix (indoor potting soil with perlite, bark, and coco peat).

• Excellent drainage is essential to prevent root rot.

Fertilizing:

• Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer.

• Do not fertilize during winter.

Pruning & Maintenance:

• Remove yellowing or damaged leaves at the base.

• Wipe leaves gently with a damp cloth to maintain their velvety texture.

Repotting:

• Repot every 1–2 years, preferably in spring.

• Choose a pot only slightly larger than the current one.

Dormancy:

• Alocasia Frydek may go semi-dormant in winter.

• Reduced growth or leaf loss is normal; resume care as temperatures rise.

Common Problems:

• Yellow leaves → overwatering or poor drainage.

• Brown tips → low humidity or inconsistent watering.

• Pests → spider mites, thrips, mealybugs (treat promptly).
