Description
Monstera Peru Care Sheet
Common Name: Monstera Peru
Scientific Name: Monstera karstenianum
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Can tolerate lower light but may grow more slowly. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water:
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent waterlogging and root rot.
Humidity:
Thrives in high humidity. Mist the plant regularly or place it near a humidifier for best results. Average indoor humidity may work, but higher levels are preferred.
Temperature:
Thrives in temperatures between 18–27°C. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 10°C.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, aerated potting mix. A peat-based mix with added perlite or orchid bark is ideal for proper drainage.
Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in winter when growth slows.
Pruning:
Prune any unwanted leggy stems or damaged leaves. Trim to encourage bushier growth and a more compact appearance.
Toxicity:
Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
